Park Asterix near Paris
Before you visit the Asterix and Obelix theme park in Paris, you'll want to get your hands on some copies of Asterix and Obelix series. It’s a funny French comic book, that will introduce you to French mentality.
It gives an excellent idea of how the French see themselves: the whole world is against them but they do not care !
In a small village, totally surrounded, with the whole world against them and particularly the powerful Romans, they have fun eating, singing and drinking, and making Romans afraid.
To fight the enemy, they get the strength from the magic potion made by their druid Panoramix.
Near Charles-de-Gaulle airport, the "Parc Asterix" is a theme park devoted to these characters : it is smaller and less spectacular than Euro Disney but not bad at all.
You can discover Ancient Greece and the Middle Ages, visit the Gauls' Village and marvel at the scale model depicting Paris through the centuries.
There are plenty of places to eat inside, as well as picnic places outside if you bring your own food.
You can watch stone-carvers, stained-glass makers, iron-smiths, and other artisans making traditional toys and then purchase some of the most unique toys you’ve ever seen.
