12th February 2013
Chinese New Year (nónglì Xinnian) also called Spring Festival is the biggest holiday for Chinese communities around the world. In Paris, a colorful parade featuring giant serpents, firecrackers, music and dancing takes place in the heart of Chinatown, between Place d'Italie and the Porte de Choisy, in the 13th arrondissement.
Paris Carnaval February 10th, 2013
This year the theme is the world of toys.
The annual Paris Carnaval procession, or the Promenade du Boeuf Gras (Fat Cow Parade) is led by the Fat Cow herself, and it revives an age-old tradition that begun in 1274.
This cheerful procession, also known as the Pantruche Carnaval and the Saint-Fargeau, makes its way through the capital's streets, accompanied by trumpeters and other musicians, until it reaches the town hall. Carnival build-up begins at 1.30pm in rue Le Vau, leaves Place Gambetta at 3pm and arrives at town hall 7pm. For full details of the 2013 route, visit carnaval-paris.org
